Year 2016 was really rich for exceptional DnB music. And I’m happy that more and more producers made very important step in their career and started to release albums. You know I really like LP albums, every album has it’s story behind and some tracks make sense only together with the rest of the album. You hear many tracks from these albums in my Podcasts and I strongly believe that in the distant future, some from these albums will make it to my new series Album Flashback.
You won’t find compilations and EPs in this article, I will prepare separate articles for them. I don’t want to decide, which album is better then the others, I just want to let everybody know, that they shouldn’t miss any album from the following list. Albums are sorted alphabetically.
And promise me that you will listen to the whole albums, from the beginning to the end 😉
Better Perspective – Technimatic (Shogun Audio)
OK, I got again goosebumps while listening this music again while writing this article 🙂 I would say that this album is even more instrumental and soulful than the last one and it’s just right like this.
Content – LSB (Soul:r)
This album was acclaimed very well, but from some reviews, it looks like it’s first big music from LSB. I’m pretty sure, that from old LSB’s singles and EPs, you could compile even bigger album than this one.
Empire State – Blu Mar Ten (Blu Mar Ten Music)
New fine soulful listening from BMT, released in December 2016. Essential listening for all their fans.
Expansion – Fourward (Shogun Audio)
At least for me, this was really big surprise. I really love how guys combine their older sound with new influences – check my article. I don’t know why, but somehow I can see some similarities with album from Urban Dawn…
Gothenburg Cluster – Urbandawn (Hospital Records)
Fresh and innovative, I have already written article about this brilliant album, so no more talking and let’s listen.
Joy – Command Strange & Intelligent Manners (Innerground Records)
Probably the biggest surprise for me this year and sadly maybe the most underrated album from 2016. Packed with many tunes well known from several mixes and podcasts. If you need to lift up your mood, try this.
The Music Factory – Utah Jazz (Spearhead Records)
I consider this album and probably all Utah Jazz music totally underrated, he deserves so much more attention. This album and all his previous albums and singles are pure bliss.
Quart – A-Sides (Eastside Records)
Huge amount of new music from DnB veteran A-Sides, delivered in 5 divided Sectors. Last Sector 5 with remixes is out now in December. Every Sector is little bit different, you have to check them all 😉 Did A-Sides find a new way how to release LP albums? At least I like it…
Shelflife 4 – Calibre (Signature Recordings)
If only we can have album like this from Calibre every year. So beautiful. Finally releasing legendary collaboration with Marky – Amen Tune.
Strange System – Krakota (Hospital Records)
After several EPs, releasing LP album was only logical step for Krakota, and result is immersive. Check my article about this album.
Thanks For Joining Us – BCee (Spearhead Records)
Amazing BCee’s album Come And Join Us from last year is followed by this album full of remixes and trust me, it’s not ‘just’ remix album, it is full of creativity. And new album of BCee is coming out next year, something to look for!
The V Singles – T.R.A.C. (V Recordings)
Actually it’s compilation, but whatever – it’s all from MC T.R.A.C. and first of all it’s good! Album with some older tracks a some new ones. I am big fan of V Recording and still I was so surprise how many first class bangers have vocal from T.R.A.C. New album coming out next year.
